Nicanor Parra In Context (September 5, 1915 - January 23, 2018)

Nicanor Parra is known as the father of antipoetry and one of the most important and popular poets in South America, the heir apparent to Pablo Neruda. In 1954, his book Poemas y Antipoemas first realized his vision of making poetry more accessible, rejecting the refinement of previous Spanish and Latin American literature and answering its romanticism with dark humor and an ironic vision about the everyday world.
